Are you having trouble with consistency? Do you already have a goal in mind but often times meet with discouragement?
If you do, that's totally fine. It's normal for everyone to struggle with persistence. Upon the hour of our dream, we're hyped and ready to change the world, but unfortunately time becomes our worst enemy; the fire that was once set ablaze suddenly extinguishes after we realize the months of our hard work still isn't giving us any sign of the promised land.
So what can we do? What can we do to change this unavoidable problem? How can we remain strong when the storm inevitably arises?
1. Decide what it is you want in life and then fall in love with it.
Indecisiveness is one of the most common reasons for failure. How can you succeed at something you're not even sure you want to do? The definition of success is finding a way into something when there seems to be no way. If you love something enough, you will do anything to make it happen, but how can you do that when you're not even sure you love it?
Here's a great example. When you fall in love with someone, do you let that person get away, or do you find any excuse you can to see him or her again? After you have truly convinced yourself that this person is "the one", do you just sit by and watch this person leave your life forever? I know I sure as heck wouldn't! There's no way I'd let the one true woman of my life get away from me!
Now, what if you were unsure about this person? What if you were unsure about your feelings or perhaps unsure of your confidence in being with this person? Now chances are, you wouldn't let this person get away from you even despite your uncertainty, (because you'd be afraid to let go of something you feel you might miss out on), but do you believe you would do anything to make your relationship with this person more powerful and intimate once you two got back together? No, because you'd either be uncertain about yourself, this person, or your feelings of this person.
Back to the overall point. Unless you are completely certain you want something, you won't do everything necessary in acquiring it. Before you do anything else, you must be absolutely certain with this dream and you must be certain of your ability to accomplish it. Only from there can you ever hope to make progress.
2. Write down your goals and read them over daily!
According to a research study in the British Journal of Health Psychology, it has been proven that those who write down their goals are much more likely to follow through with their plans and achieve success.
Furthermore, as explained by the number 1 best selling book of the century on personal wealth and lasting success, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, if a person not only writes down his or her goals, but reads them over out loud daily, his or her chances of success will skyrocket!
It is important to train our minds to align with our goals and dreams. Our actions are guided by the things we say, and the things we say become what our minds believe. So in order to change our choice of actions, we have to shift our mind's perspective. To do this, we have to teach our minds how to think.
So now here's the question. How do you want your perspective to be? Well, that's where the written goals come to play. Place all your free flowing thoughts on paper, so then you can have your thoughts separated and organized instead of being jumbled up all together in your head with the rest of your daily thoughts.
Once your plans and goals are written down and neatly organized, you need to have your mind one hundred percent focused on them. To do this, you need to brainwash your thinking with the content of your words until they are buried into your subconscious.
So I challenge you to write down your goals and read over them over twice a day within a month's time. See if your thinking hasn't improved positively by then!
3. Surround Yourself In A Positive Environment.
Peer Pressure, the friends you hang out with and the home you grew up in can carry an immense influence over your current state of thinking, but thankfully no matter where any of us started from, we can still become the person we want to be.
One of the easiest ways to begin thinking in the way we want is by surrounding ourselves with the people we want to become. Develop a new circle of friends who want to do big things like us. Become associated with higher ups in the fields your interested in. Who knows, maybe they'll become the opportunity you've been waiting for!
Not only is it important however to be surrounded with positive-minded people, but we need to surround ourselves with as much positive influence as possible. That includes the music we listen to, the books or articles we read, and even the movies we watch!
Never underestimate how influential the world around us can become for our lives. All the words that we hear in the world will always travel back into the subconscious of our mind, so we need to make sure the words our body processes are positive!
4. When You're Discouraged About How Far You Have To Go, Remind Yourself How Far You've Come.
No matter how hard we train or how well we're prepared, the difficulties and discouraging waits will still come. When these moments come though, just remember how how far you've come to get to where you're at. remind yourself of everything you've done and all the progress you've made. You deserve to be proud of yourself!
Success takes time. It doesn't reward talent. It rewards persistence. Don't give up when things start looking intimidating! That mountain of gold could just be five more minutes of drilling through the tunnels.
So Keep Digging!
